zinc: a cool presence in the garden
We are proud to introduce our new silver finish we call “zinc". A lustrous, diamagnetic metal, zinc is found in all living organisms and is the 24th most abundant element in Earth's crust. Inspired by zinc’s timeless quality and usage, our namesake powdercoat finish is of a medium silver hue with a rich, mercury-like patina. Hanging out with the birds and the bees
Since we last wrote about our Bee Bungalows and offered ideas to nurture native pollinators in the landscape, we noticed an uptick of interest and sales of our feeders and bungalows. We are thrilled that awareness is growing as to the importance of native birds and bees frequenting backyards and public gardens. Read more >
TerraTrellis @Dwell on Design 2013
It was an amazing week at Dwell on Design 2013! This annual week-long event, curated by the editors of Dwell magazine, showcases the most innovative and sustainable ideas in modern design, art and architecture. This year's show was by far the best we've seen and we were thrilled to be a part of it again. It also takes place in our own hometown of Los Angeles! How lucky is that?
All choked up
It's artichoke season on California.
During a photoshoot for our new Sculptural Wildlife Habitats (Bee Bungalow, Birdy Bungalow and Birdy Cafe -blog post to come!) we stumbled upon a gorgeous un-staged scene in our edible garden studio that took our breath away. It involved a fruiting artichoke, a bougainvillea 'Orange King' an Akoris Garden Tuteur Sr. in Berry color and a Mira Garden Trellis Sr. in Aubergine color.
